Fox In Uwharrie

We decided to get out of the house today while we still have a couple weeks of summer break left. Originally, we wanted to visit one of our favorite local waterfall swimming areas, but decided on a shorter drive and went to Uwharrie instead.

I haven’t been there before, so we had no idea where to go, and we ended up outside a gated community where we had to around when Conor says “We could go back there and look at that fox creature.”

I thought he was kidding.

But lo and behold, as we turned around, there was a little fox sitting on the side of the road without a care in the world. Turns out, the gate guards at the gated community have taken a liking to this little fox family and occasionally feed them chicken. That explains why she hangs around and shows little fear of people passing by.

We snapped a few photos and then continued on our journey, where we finished the day off at Gold Hill’s small historic district. Gold Hill is an adorable town with a small but beautiful little downtown area. We’ve been before, and we always appreciate a return trip.
